"Snippets" are mini-articles - they allow me to very quickly add answers to your frequently asked questions, and add brief explanations for topics that you've searched for without success. So, everytime you send an email or perform a search, chances are a new snippet will be the result!

17 Mar: What is this "pad=1" I keep seeing?

Ok, that's a fair question! Marshall was the latest to ask it, so I guess it's time to 'fess up.

It's very simple though. I append ?pad=1 to a lot of internal URL's when they can accept a password. That way I can always append the password with a &. Otherwise I'd have to sometimes use ?password, and other times &password.;

Well, I never said it was a good reason...
